West Knox Utility District is committed to ensuring that all individuals have equal access to its programs, services, and activities. In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), and other applicable nondiscrimination authorities, the District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or income status 


Title VI and ADA Nondiscrimination Notice
West Knox Utility District operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or income status.


The District does not exclude from participation in, deny the service of, or otherwise discriminate against any person in the administration of its programs, services, activities, or employment practices. 


Individuals needing auxiliary aids or services for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program or service, should contact the District office as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event or service. 


Any person who believes they have been subjected to discrimination under Title VI or the ADA may file a complaint with the District within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory act.

Language Assistance Notice
West Knox Utility District provides free language assistance services to individuals whose primary language is not English. 


Language assistance services may include: 
•    Oral interpretation services
•    Written translation of important documents
•    Assistance communicating with District staff 


These services are provided free of charge.
If you need language assistance, please contact the District office at (865) 690-2521.

 

Title VI Complaint Procedure
Any person who believes they have been discriminated against may file a complaint with West Knox Utility District. 

How to File a Complaint
A complaint must be filed in writing and contain:
1.    The complainant’s name, address, and contact information
2.    A description of the alleged discriminatory act
3.    The date(s) of the alleged incident
4.    The name(s) of the person(s) involved, if known
5.    Any supporting documentation or evidence


Complaints must be submitted within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory act.
Complaints may be submitted by mail or in person to the Title VI / ADA Coordinator listed above. 

 

Complaint Review Process
1.    The complaint will be reviewed upon receipt.
2.    The complainant will receive written acknowledgment within 10 business days.
3.    An investigation will be conducted as necessary.
4.    A written response will be provided within 30 business days, unless additional time is needed.
Retaliation against any individual for filing a complaint or participating in an investigation is strictly prohibited.
